US Olympic Trials Economic Impact

The numbers are in, and the scores are high! The U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials generated significant economic activity in the Twin Cities and impact on our region.

BY THE NUMBERS

• $74.8 million economic activity generated
• $26.4 million generated in labor income
• $16.9 million guest room revenue
• $7.5 million in ticket revenue (a new ticket revenue record!)
• $5.7 million state and local tax revenue
• 1.9 billion people reached on social media
• 200K+ visitors to Minneapolis
• 67,545 people attended ticketed events
• 77% were visitors from outside the area - representing every state and 6 countries!
• 95% of attendees reported a positive experience
• 2 of 3 left with a more favorable view of the Twin Cities

Lodging, restaurants and retailers were the businesses that most directly benefited from the crowds. The quality of our venues and the friendliness of our community were what guests valued most.
