Practice with a Purpose is a program focused on creating connections with local youth by tying together teamwork, community organizations, and a keynote message based on topics relevant to our communities. As part of the events surrounding the tournament, we are hosting a Practice with a Purpose youth clinic on March 2nd to celebrate Youth Day.
“Critical Conversations” presented by Minnesota Sports and Events, Bell Bank, and the Star Tribune, is a speaker series comprised of engaging conversations on topics that are timely and relevant to our community. Join us a for a marquee session during tournament week as we explore the value of equity and representation not just on the court, but in telling the stories about our athletes as well.
Beginning in 2023 Minnesota Sports and Events, along with their media partners, will introduce the first iteration of their Junior Journalism program. Partnering with a local youth organization, MNSE and their media partners will select a group of students for a behind the scenes experience of the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament.
Bringing the energy to the Target Center lobby and concourses, the Big Ten Fan Fun Zone will pump up ticket holders with activities, entertainment, and photo ops celebrating each tournament theme day. Local DJs sets from DJ Keezy, Miss Britt, Shannon Blowtorch, and DJ Espada.
Starting Thursday on the arena concourse game goers will be able to leave their mark on the Twin Cities community. Presented in partnership with Hands On Twin Cities, service stations will be set for a hands-on opportunity to pack snack packs for Twin Cities youth experiencing hunger.
The depth of influence a person can have over a sport isn't instantly obvious. It can take time for meaning to take hold or for society to realize that an athlete's exploits or coach's philosophies were taking root and blossoming into something else entirely.

Big Ten celebrates their future players by hosting Youth Day and welcoming students, sports teams, and youth organizations from all over the state to Target Center.

Minnesota sets the soundtrack for the evening session with a playlist full of Minnesota artists including artists past and present including Lizzo, Prince, Dessa, The Time, Hippo Campus, and more.

Awareness is the first step! Big Ten promotes Breast Cancer Awareness through in game programming and has enlisted Minnesota medical powerhouse Mayo Clinic to provide mammography services to Twin Cities communities in need.
